Apple Announces Press Event for Jan. 27, Apple Tablet Unveiling?
If you've been following all the rumors about the Apple Tablet, it's no more official than it was yesterday, but now we at least have a solid date for when anticipation will turn into reality. Apple sent out invitations to many news outlets announcing a special press conference to be held Jan. 27.
To be clear, nothing on the invitation confirms the press event will be the unveiling of the fabled Apple Tablet. However, the date does coincide exactly with rumors that Apple would announce the tablet on that day. Additionally, the announcement contains the words "Come see our latest creation," indicating this isn't going to just be an update of an existing product line.

Google's Netbook Specs Leaked
London-based International Business Times revealed robust specifications for a Google netbook, but more surprising is the speculation Google will sell their own branded netbook direct to consumers. Sound familiar? It should. Earlier this month, it was reported Google would sell its branded phone, the Nexus One, direct to consumers beginning in January.
The list of potential manufacturers in the running for the Google device is identical to the list of hardware partners announced by Google last July. It includes Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Toshiba, and Texas Instruments.
All specs adhere to the principle of small profile, big performance. The specs...
Apple Tablet Demo Coming in January?
Here’s some jolly holiday news for those of us who can’t wait to get a glimpse of the Apple Tablet. According to a "plugged-in source in the mobile industry," Apple will demo their tablet next month, which is way earlier than anyone predicted.
The anonymous source told Silicon Alley Insider that Apple has asked a select few iPhone app developers to create high-resolution apps for the demo, which will make for excellent visuals on the rumored 10-inch screen.
But here’s the catch (you were expecting a catch, weren’t you?): This might not be a public demo. In fact, considering that content developers, like magazine and ebook publishers, are still...
ASUS Eee Pad to Have Multitouch, Tegra Processor
Rumors have been circulating that ASUS plans to release a tablet right along with every other company in the known universe. Now a new set of rumors are explaining more about the device, making it even more likely that we’ll see an ASUS tablet at CES 2010 in a few weeks.
Varied (and obviously anonymous) sources for Netbooknews have reported that an ASUS Eee Pad will be hitting the market with an NVIDIA Tegra chip inside, which is exciting news. It also helps explain the mysterious NVIDIA tablet concept that was revealed a while back.
The ASUS Eee Pad will reportedly also have multitouch capabilities, although that’s not necessarily earth-shattering news. Multitouch is...
Dell and ASUS to Unveil Tablets at CES?
The recent frenzy over tablet computers, ostensibly started by rumors of an Apple Tablet, has infected many manufacturers. Even Motorola and NVIDIA have been getting in on the action. So it’s no surprise that two major computer manufacturers, Dell and ASUS, are also rumored to be creating their own tablets.
The Dell rumor is the most complete so far. According to Pocket-Lint, Dell is so close to finishing their tablet that they plan to unveil it at CES in just a few weeks and beat Apple to market. Dell’s tablet will not be as big as Apple’s though. It will have a 5-inch screen and run a version of the Android operating system, which has become quite popular on phones...
