Beware: New G-Speak Causes Instant Adoration

Do you remember that annoying Samsung Instinct commercial that was a supposed trailer for the "most heartwarming product placement movie of the year"? You know, the one where the lady says "I think I'm falling in love (dramatic pause) with a phone," right as you start gagging. I can't tell you how many times I scrambled for the remote when that commercial came on.
The only reason I bring up a bad advertising campaign is that I'm about to sound as sappy as said phone lady and I want you to stick with me because I'm talking about something infinitely cooler than smartphone romcoms. Seriously, keep reading, no matter how hard your eyes want to roll at first.
Here it goes: I think I'm falling in love (dramatic pause) with a user interface system.
Are you still there? I know it sounds strange, but I think you'll fall in love, too. The UI in question is the new G-Speak from Oblong Industries. Rather than trying to describe the level of immediate adoration I achieved, I think I'll show you what I'm talking about so you can be just as enamored with it as I am.
Obviously, this new technology is drawing a lot of parallels to the interface we saw in the movie Minority Report. That's not coincidence; the science advisor behind the movie is also involved in the development of G-Speak.
Besides looking really stonking cool, there are a lot of great applications, although you shouldn't expect to be wearing tacky gloves around the office any time soon. Still, if smartphones and netbooks weren't enough to give you faith in the continuing advance of science, let G-Speak be your inspiration.
Okay, now you can leave, I'm gonna go practice my hand movements in the mirror and geek out some more.
While I do that, you can check out our reviews of some of the more contemporary tech like the aforementioned smartphones and netbooks. And there are plenty of other blog posts about things that aren't quite this mind-blowing but are still pretty interesting:
