Conspiracy theory alert:
Cloud computing and web-based programs like Gmail are setting us all up for monetary and technological slavery. Richard Stallman has taken time from his personal grooming schedule to announce to us the
evil intentions of cloud computing, and further exhort us to free ourselves from the shackles of web-based programs.
In fact, if I understand Stallman correctly, using web-based programs isn't just "worse than stupidity", it's setting ourselves up for paying more money in the future. Does Stallman think that Google is going to start charging for Gmail?
"Somebody is saying this is inevitable - and whenever you hear somebody saying that, it's very likely to be a set of businesses campaigning to make it true."
So what is the solution to this madness? How are we to save ourselves from being brainwashed with new-fangled cloud computing propaganda? Well, of course we should be using our "own computer with [our] own copy of freedom-respecting program." Let me guess, he's suggesting
GNU and other free software?
Thank you Captain Stallman for helping me part the clouds and see the light. As my first step in supporting the cause, I will be collecting donations for your hair stylist. Please send any contributions to
