The Acer PR department was busy today dumping about 9 press releases on the Acer website this morning announcing new laptops, an 11 inch netbook, a Nettop and much more.
And, Acer execs have publicly admitted to dabbling with Android on netbooks.
Instead of reading the press releases in full detail (because they are real page turners) we'll give you nitty, gritty after the jump.
Aspire Timeline SeriesA super thin, super light full size laptop designed for simplicity and energy efficiency (8 hour battery claim). The Timeline track pad has multi-touch capabilities, is available in 13, 14, and 15.6 inch screen flavors, and a smart power button for more batter life.
The
specs are decent, but they are really relying on the battery thing.
11.6 inch Aspire OneAcer has unofficially announced the 9 inch netbook has gone the way of the Dodo. The new 11 incher,
previously only a rumor, will include most of the normal specs like an Atom processor and 160 GB HDD. Some fancier features include Blutooth, 3G, digital microphone, built-in webcam and 8 hour 6-cell battery. (I'll believe the battery thing when I see it.)
Acer isn't the first company to contemplate an 11 inch netbook.
Dell has got one in the works too.
Acer AspireRevo NettopI could go into the details here, but you'll get a better idea of how cool the
AspireRevo is in this other post.
All-in-one Aspire Z5600 PCYou guessed it: a touchscreen desktop from Acer promising to take full advantage of all Windows 7 has to offer. Acer is branding the Z5600 PC (they need a new name) as a "true rich multimedia PC" with TV tuner, webcam and DVD/Blu-ray player/ writer. They are also touting up to 2 TB of HDD space. Of course, the press release didn't include any details about pricing.
Acer Aspire 8935 and 5935Although the release of the new notebooks is interesting, the press release (well the first couple of sentences) are more entertaining). Someone in PR got a little flirty in this release, the first couple of sentences sounding like a bad Harlequin novel.
593515 inch scree, 500 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM, 6 in 1 card reader, wireless N, Blutooth, webcam, Acer Bio-Protection fingerprint software and more.
8935All of the above with an 18 inch screen and 2 500 GB HDDs = 1 TB HDD.
Acer Aspire 3995The ultra everything laptop featuring a 13 inch HD screen, energy saving features found in the Timeline series, 8 hour battery and 4 GB memory. The Aspire 3995 is also available with or without an optical drive, and your choice of HDD or solid state drive. Ah, decisions, decisions.
Android NetbookSo this wasn't officially part of the press release news, but Engadget confirmed that Acer execs have been dabbling with Android on their netbooks and they don't feel it is quite ready for the public yet.
I believe that concludes the highlights of Acer's news. See you in six months when they undoubtedly do this again.
