TopTenREVIEWS - Bronze Award - Awarded for excellence in design, useability and feature set
By Mike McPeek

eMachines has once again created a quality computer for a surprisingly low price. One cannot build or buy an equivalent computer for less than the cost of the eMachines T5234, a good choice for a basic economy computer.

The T5234 has a faster processor than the previous model, the T5230, with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz versus the 5230’s 2.1 GHZ Athlon 64 X2. The 1 GB of fast DDR2 memory ensures consistent performance that won’t disappoint during everyday use. This computer shouldn’t be mistaken for a gaming PC, but can play certain real-time strategy games and even DVD’s without a noticeable performance decrease. With its 16x dual-layer DVD burner, you can also backup and burn DVD’s quickly, so you’re never without your critical data and your movies are guarded against your 2 year-old’s penchant for scratching discs.

The eMachines T5234 is perfect for everyday use, but if you need something with a little more power and features, check out our gaming and media center computer reviews. At TopTenREVIEWS, we do the research so you don’t have to™.

The eMachines T5234 is a capable if basic budget PC, but it takes a step back in performance because it uses a slower processor than the older model it replaces.

eMachines' latest is good for a sub-$500 PC. The T5234 has a good bang-for-the-buck quotient, eking out a better showing than the rest of the pack.

eMachines is merely treading water with its T-series line of fixed-configuration, budget PCs. The latest, the T5234, offers no improvement to last quarter's T5230 system. If anything, the T5234 represents a step back, using a slightly slower CPU than the
