The Acer Aspire 5920 is a stylish, sleek laptop with a fast processor, a great deal of RAM, a terrific video card, and above-average sound for laptop speakers. The exterior of the Aspire 5920 looks like it was designed by BMW, as one user put it, and we are in agreement. It’s shiny, black, and just plain cool-looking. The processor is one of Intel’s latest, a Core 2 Duo T7300, running at an impressive 2 GHz. You can multitask to your heart’s content and not worry about slow performance. The 2 GB of memory also helps with multitasking, and even gaming. The video card is Nvidia’s GeForce 8600M GT, with 256 MB of memory onboard, and if you need to, you can dedicate an additional 512 MB of system memory to the video card. This makes for a formidable gaming laptop, especially when combined with the Dolby Home Theater speakers. The sound is clear and the bass surprisingly prominent for laptop speakers. It won’t rival a good set of 2.1 speakers, but you won’t be disappointed listening to music or watching DVDs without headphones. Acer has put together an impressive blend of power and elegance in the Aspire 5920, making for a near desktop replacement that’s light enough and cool enough to easily and proudly carry about.
