ASUS Pushing Further Into Gaming Laptop Market With the W90
Laptops aren't really a new gig for Asus, the maker of nearly everything hardware and gadget oriented, and of my motherboard and favorite netbook. Outside of netbooks, their Lamborghini laptop series made waves, well, because they were Lamborghini-branded and had some decent components for the time (2006-7), albeit for a high price.I figured ASUS would continue to produce similarly equipped gaming laptops, with specs that neither wowed nor disappointed. Apparently, they've broken that mold with the W90.
Computer Shopper recently put the ASUS W90Vp-X1 through its paces, and gave it their Editors' Choice award. The specs are impressive: 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 6GB of RAM, 320GB hard drive, a large 18.4-inch screen with true 1080p resolution, dual ATI Radeon HD4870 cards in CrossFire mode, full keyboard and 10-key, multimedia controls galore...
Of course this supersized monster weighs in at a hefty 11.5 pounds without the power brick, but the price (at time of review) is surprisingly low at $2,199.00. Hit up Computer Shopper for the full review, and don't forget to check out our gaming laptop reviews.
