The term “vaporware” emerged in the 80s to describe products heavily advertised that, for various reasons, fail to make it to the marketplace. Despite the term being applied to books, films, construction projects, the imminent apocalypse, etc., the world of computers still remains the vaporware industry leader. CES has often been a haven for vaporware, so we worried that such would be the fate of the Dell Mini 10 when it was announced there. Until now, anyway.

After its unveiling at CES, word of the Mini 10 netbook all but vanished as if it were but the fever dream of a PC-positive early adopter. Yet, in a recent conversation between Sir Paul Synott and an online Dell UK representative, the Mini 10 is coming out of the vapors (perhaps following in the footsteps of Guns ‘n’ Roses longer-awaited Chinese Democracy) and will be shipping on February 27th... probably. This was, in part, validated over description of a “smaller, like the Mini 9” power adapter. Nevertheless, no pricing information was given.

So, though it looks it likely the Mini 10 could be the next Chinese Democracy, there is still a strong possibility it will remain in vaporwareland with My Bloody Valentine’s 3rd album.
