New HP Netbook for $400
Hewlett-Packard just couldn't stay on the sidelines while all the other manufacturers got in on the raging new netbook party. So HP came out with their own netbook. The HP Mini 1000 is available now and more models are to be released in the coming months.
The new netbooks will be less than one inch thick and weigh a mere 2.25 pounds while featuring a keyboard that is 92 percent of what a full size keyboard is. A built in webcam is also included with the netbook. They will feature a glossy black piano finish that will dare people to notice you. Okay, that sounds a bit cheesy, but see if it's doesn't turn out to be true.
But here's the really good news. The Mini 1000 will only cost $400. Who cares how glossy the case is if the price is right. Right?
These new netbooks will be available with either a solid state hard drive or a standard hard drive and users will have their choice of either an 8.9 inch model or a slightly larger 10.2 inch model. Users will also have their choice of either Windows XP or Linux operating systems.
To the delight of some of my female coworkers, HP has also announced that a Vivienne Tam edition will also be available. This model will feature the fashion designer's spring 2009 collection as a sort of must-have accessory. So instead of carrying this season's hottest handbag, you will be carrying your computer in your hand.
