Vaio P to Get Upgrades, Windows XP

The identity plagued netbook/notebook, a.k.a. the Vaio P, from Sony is getting an upgrade ... or a downgrade that's really an upgrade and some cool new features that will be available only in Japan. Despite Sony's lack of love for those of us Stateside, we are kind of excited that the ultra-portable laptop manufacturers are ditching Vista and making their life companion a little more user friendly.



Sony is making XP the standard OS on the newest Vaio P models. Good news for those who want to invest in the pricey netbook. It means the Vaio P will be able to run its applications without interference from the infamous Vista and its problems, which are no better running on a netbook. You'd think smaller computer, smaller problems, but no. The small size may even intensify the problems, with less space to run applications outside interference from the OS.

Japan will also get some updated specs on the Vaio P. They'll have a 2GHz processor and WWAN data as a standard. Someday we'll get the cool stuff too. But until then, you can entertain yourself with comparing the best netbooks and reading these other blog posts:
