DVD Is The King Of All Media

Everyone knows that Blu-ray is the greatest thing since sliced bread, right? In a recent study done by iSuppli only 3.6% of PCs sold this year were shipped with a Blu-ray drive. That number is expected to rise to only 16.3% by 2013.

The reason appears to not be any fault of Blu-ray on its own, but rather timing. Most people today who want to watch a movie will download it. Anyone needing an install disc will download it. It stands to reason then that a Blu-ray drive in a computer just isn’t that useful anymore.

Blu-ray will still be somewhat successful in the home theater crowd, but it won’t even come close to the saturation level that DVD achieved. That also makes us wonder if creating a blu-ray library is even worth it anymore. Only time will answer that question I suppose.
