Apple Brick Rumors = Boring
Ok, the newest interpretation of the MacBook "brick" rumor is that it refers to nothing more than a block of aluminum. Really? All that's behind the fantastical rumor is a cubed chunk of metal? Forgive me for being a bit unimpressed.Granted, the "brick" isn't just your average hunk of tin foil. This is high-quality, aircraft grade aluminum, supposedly the first step in some sort of revolutionary manufacturing process that will allow Apple to have a stronger, lighter, and cheaper MacBook. Oh, and throw in the terms "3D laser" and "water jet cutting", just for fun.
I guess there are two ways to look at this rumor, assuming it is true:
1) Apple is amazing, so this aluminum deal must be the most innovative thing since, well whatever that last amazing Apple thing was (Jack Johnson?). Steve Jobs is the epitome of man, and this manufacturing novelty is bound to be brick-tastic, alumin-umazing, and block-alicious.
2) We're to look forward to forking out our cash on a new MacBook because it doesn't have any screws? "Brick" is the best codename you could come up with for the new manufacturing process? It seems so linear, so straightforward. Why didn't we see this coming?
We expect more from our Apple rumors. How about we try this instead:
New Apple MacBooks have discarded the glass trackpad idea and will be controlled via a 3D laser. The actual system will not only be slimmer and smoother, but will come packaged with a USB water jet cutter. And Steve Jobs will be wearing a postal blue shirt at the next apple conference. V-neck.
