Here’s some jolly holiday news for those of us who can’t wait to get a glimpse of the Apple Tablet. According to a "plugged-in source in the mobile industry," Apple will demo their tablet next month, which is way earlier than anyone predicted.

The anonymous source told Silicon Alley Insider that Apple has asked a select few iPhone app developers to create high-resolution apps for the demo, which will make for excellent visuals on the rumored 10-inch screen.

But here’s the catch (you were expecting a catch, weren’t you?): This might not be a public demo. In fact, considering that content developers, like magazine and ebook publishers, are still rumored to be in talks with Apple over content deals, it’s likely that this will be a private demo to show off what the Apple Tablet can do. It would also be logical that other app developers would be there to see how the Apple Tablet handles apps.

This news adds weight to the other rumors we’ve heard that the Apple Tablet will run an operating system identical or very similar to that of the iPhone, meaning that current iPhone apps will probably be compatible with the tablet. They might not have a high enough resolution to look good on a larger screen, but they’ll work.

Silicon Alley Insider’s source also adds credence to the rumors of a March release for the Apple Tablet, which also seems to make sense if the tablet is ready to demo in January.
