Dell Announces Mini 10, Blurring Lines Between Netbook and TV
At Dell's CES demonstration they announced a host of new computer toys like the ultra thin Adamo laptop, Wasabi Zink printer, Dell Inspiron Mini 10 and a USB Digital tuner. The Mini 10 is the newest addition to the Mini family, joining the 9 and 12. Although the 10 falls smack dab in the middle of the current Dell netbooks it has several additional features that make my Aspire One seem like old potatoes. (And I just got the Aspire for Christmas.)
Ahhh, technology. Once again you prove there is a fine line between love and hate.
According to the CES spokespeople the new Inspiron Mini 10 features built-in mobile broadband, built-in GPS, multi-touch touchpad, an edge-to-edge keyboard (that means bigger keyboard?) the and my personal favorite feature... built-in TV tuner.
Anyone else notice the "built-in" trend? Wonder what that will do to price.
Speaking of price, Dell won't release one just yet. We also couldn't confirm or deny if the function keys have been reinstated to their proper place on the keyboard.
If you aren't lucky enough to have a netbook, or notebook for that matter with a built-in TV tuner (and really, who is?) Dell is showcasing a USB digital tuner. Once the digital TV switch is implemented in February (if it is implemented at all) for about $50 you can get free network television to your netbook/notebook/desktop.
That reminds me...
Dear Birthday Fairy, (you did know there was a birthday fairy right?)
I've been a good girl this year and I want a USB Digital TV tuner.
Thank you Dell, you just made my addiction to 30 Rock that much easier to cope with.
