Beginning June 1st, you'll be able to get your hands on the first of two new HP Mini netbooks, the M110 and M1101. Fine, another netbook, right? Well, these HP Minis have some nice features that you might be interested in: HD video playback and new, easy-to-use syncing software, cleverly titled Syncables.

If you've long decried the less than optimal HD video playback from most netbooks, both the M110 and M1101 will have an optional Broadcom HD Decoder chip, capable of playing both 720p and 1080p HD video without a hitch. Faster and larger hard drives certainly won't hurt, either.

The HP M110 netbook specs include a 160GB hard drive that spins at a respectable 5,400rpm. That's twice the space of the original Mini 1000, and 1,200 more revs per minute. The M110 will be available in three of HP's flashy designs: Pink Chic and White Swirl will come online July 8th, while the Black Swirl will begin selling June 10th.

The more robust of the two, the M1101 will be available June 1st, and will include a few more optional goodies:

  • Built-in 3G modem (EVDO/HSPA)

  • 250GB hard drive

  • 32GB solid state hard drive

I've been playing with the HP 1151NR netbook from Verizon for a few days, and it's a nice netbook that lets me work and play anywhere. While the keyboard is 92% of full laptop size, the keys are noticeably larger than those found on the 10" Acer Aspire netbooks.

HP is also including new syncing software, dubbed Syncables, on the new M110 and M1101 netbooks. Syncables has some interesting features I'm curious to try out, and I've downloaded the trial version to that end. Other reviews of Syncables have been favorable, so I'm optimistic.

The main features of Syncables include:

  • Keep your media, bookmarks, documents and mail in sync and instantly updated

  • Keep ALL your networked computers in sync

  • Publish your photos and videos to Facebook, YouTube, SmugMug, and more

  • Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux

  • Migrate your documents, emails, bookmarks, photos, music, videos, and more from your old computer

  • Transfer documents, bookmarks, photos, music, videos, and more to any portable computer or USB device

Syncables is currently selling for $49.99, with a free trial version available for download. Always try before you buy!

Hi, Syncables is good when it works. However the program won't sync the extra extensions I put in on the advanced tab ie onenote, spss. I like the firefox bookmark syncing. I am also experiencing intermittent connectivity in syncables itself. I am using XP home and XP pro one on each. XP pro is on my netbook. So maybe that is why I am getting some intermittent connectivity issues. The software does make it easy though for pdf, xls, doc, txt, and ppt syncing you don't need to do anything except bring up the software on one computer and hit sync. Also this program works without file and printer sharing being enabled. Thanks. God Bless. Aaron.
