The Apple Let’s Rock Event hype is so earlier this week, and so it’s time for Mac fans to move on the next rumor. The newest apple seed: MacBooks will be released on October 14. The first bite into these new rumors include these flavorful tidbits:

  • New models are thinner (anorexia joke intentionally avoided), slightly more rounded (ditto), and will be more Air-like in design. Lightweight? Airbrushed? Lacking substance?

  • The new body will be composed from a single sheet of aluminum. Solid, and eco-nomic

  • Trackpad is made of glass, has multi-touch, and incorporates user gestures (middle finger sensitive?)

  • MacBook Pro may include an Blu-Ray readable drive New apple chips: Apple will still be supplied with Intel chips, but may include some others

Of course with all these purported features we expect to see some sort of leaked manufacturing photo, Photoshop rendering, or blueprint. Apple.pro is our first source into the tasty picture leaks. We expect to see more of the juicy inside soon.

So who’s to say whether these rumors are true or not? Will these MacBook reports materialize, or vanish into thin air?

Here are a few reasons why the rumors are more than just hot air:

  • October 14th is a Tuesday, the traditional day of Apple unveilings. This custom practice is in memory of Jonny “Appleseed” Chapman who died on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1845 (furthermore, Steve Jobs was born 110 years later in the same Month, Feb. 24, 1955)

  • If a pictures says a thousand words, at least some of them must be true. Have leaked photos ever been wrong?

  • When everyone else catches on it’s time to start something new. The stars are aligning. Notice how Microsoft finally responded to the Get a Mac campaign with Jerry Seinfeld? And how about the recent Dell parody of Macbook Air envelope ads (executed almost as “well” as the Carl’s Jr./Hardees Pizza Hut impersonation)? Expect to see Zune Nanos and Dell touch phones in several months.

  • October is the ideal time to release for the upcoming holidays, unless of course you’re a Harry Potter Film.
