Sony Releases First Netbook, Vaio W, Admits They Aren't Just a Fad
Netbooks are just a fad anyway, at least that used to be Sony’s take on the uber popular computers until now. For months they tried to tell us that we really wanted a VAIO P, not a netbook. Thankfully we as consumers stood our ground and continued to buy netbooks over the ridiculously over-priced VAIO P.
So what does Sony do? They release the VAIO W. Even though Sony says it isn’t a netbook, it is. It features the same Intel Atom running Windows XP with 1 GB of RAM just like all the EEE PC and Acer Aspires out there.
So what does this new-fangled netbook from Sony cost? Reuters reports that it will cost in the neighborhood of $630. No thanks, I will stick with my Acer Aspire for half that.
