Even the largest new outlets are treating the fabled Apple Tablet as a reality despite the fact no one has actually produced more than an anonymous source. Regardless, we’re happy they are because it has given us fascinating stories like the one the Wall Street Journal ran this morning. It’s got everything from more anonymous sources to a rebuttal by Steve Jobs himself.
The story explains just how hard it has been for Apple employees to readjust to having Steve Jobs around after he returned from medical leave. He’s a notorious micromanager and employees had grown accustomed to a little more freedom in his absences. Sorry guys, the king is back in the castle.
But even more interesting is the revelation that Jobs has killed the Apple Tablet twice before. The first time was apparently due to substandard battery life and the second was for insufficient memory. At least we know they’re not rushing something to market. That doesn’t mean it will be perfect, but hopefully all the major problems will be resolved.
And to add to the drama, Steve Jobs was contacted for comments and responded with a simple “Much of your information is incorrect.” What did you expect? It wouldn’t have been Steve if he had said anything else.
