Windows 7 May Be Good for Netbooks

There's a distinct reason that almost all netbooks are running either Windows XP or Linux: Vista needs more computing power and energy than netbooks can provide. And you don't hear anybody complaining about that for the second reason Vista isn't on netbooks, namely that Vista is worth as much as a box of rocks. But we're starting to hear positive reports that Windows 7 just might be enough of an improvement over Vista that it will be a viable OS for netbooks.
We've read several different accounts of running the Windows 7 beta on netbooks just in the last few days. Apparently the results have been positive for everyone, sparking hopes that when all the bugs have been worked out of Windows 7 (hahahahahaha, sorry, couldn't help it) it will be a good successor to XP as a netbook OS.
This is mostly due to the fact that Windows 7 requires far less computing power than Vista to run well, which also results in longer battery life (one of the biggest weaknesses of netbooks, currently). We're excited because netbooks continue to get better and better hardware at cheaper prices, so by the time Windows 7 comes out they should be handling Windows 7 with no problems.
