Nokia Hooking Up with Intel. Nokia Tablet?
There will be an announcement later today talking about how Nokia and Intel are teaming up for some sort of device. While the call will probably clear up all the questions, it will also take away the fun of guessing and speculation. So for all those curious enough to try and look for info before the actual announcement, we're going to take a few guesses at why the world's largest chipmaker and one of the world's top phone manufacturers are partnering up.The general opinion on the blogosphere points to a Nokia tablet, but we're wondering (and hoping) if it might be an entirely new kind of device. Imagine having MID-like phones with Atom processors and an ability to make the iPhone 3G S look like it has the equivalent of a dial-up connection. While a Nokia tablet could be a cool thing, there are so many netbooks on the market, we're ready for a new kind of toy to blog about.
While Intel has already partnered with LG for Moorestown, a generation of Atom processors for their MID, that is still a long way away. This could be Intel's first foray into the real cell phone market and the Intel and Nokia partnership could give us something a little sooner than the Moorestown MID, or at least something a little more interesting to talk about instead of gushing about how cool this Atom processor is compared to others.
What do you think? Check back after the announcement to find out exactly what Nokia and Intel are going to do, just so you can find out if you should get excited or not. For more on the latest tech news, check out these other blog posts:
